My biggest issue was that the online version frequently stopped working and I had to contact the help desk too often in order to get it working again. I have some physical limitations and the online version was critical to me. My second issue was the expense (really $72 for a book rental?). The third issue I had was the academic format... the book is written in such a way that you are not always confident in what you are reading. If it could give a better overview and then expand on that, the book would be much better.

It was okay, I didn't use this text book as much for my assignments. However, If you happened to get older edition from the same author which tends to be much less expensive, I would say go for it.

cheap; future law school studies!!

I am an unemployed/retired citizen who has been desperately seeking employment for over a year. I finally decided that perhaps my current set of skills were no longer marketable and that I should go back to school to develop other skills. The tuition at my local community college was not bad - especially with the "old person" discount -- but the price of the text books was obscene. So I went to amazon.com and found just the book I needed except at a much reduced price. It took no time at all for the book to arrive and it is exactly what I needed. I am pleased with my book and will order all of my future textbooks from amazon.com

As we all know, we have no control over what textbooks are going to be used for our classes. That being said, I am currently using this one along with other students in the classroom.We all find this book to be incredibly frustrating.There are quite a few typos, including one of a party's name, first found in the citation of a reported case and then all through the discussion of the case. I am not sure if this is the result of poor writing by the author or poor work by the editing department. In any case, it's pretty bad for a textbook. Try making a mistake similar to that in real life and you know what a court would do with the case.For a book that is supposed to teach a person how to do legal research and writing, this one makes the process way more difficult than neccesary. If you are a paralegal student, you will understand there are many facets to this subject. And the key to getting it is having it presented in a logical and straight forward manner. This book does not cut it at all.I actually got frustrated enough to purchase a book written by another author that was recommended by a friend who is currently working as a paralegal. I have found myself relying on that book more than this one, and it is making life much easier. I plan on keeping the other book for reference down the road. This one is not a keeper in any stretch of the imagination. I brought the other one to school for our director to review and hopefully for the next school year, this one will be replaced.I rarely bother to review textbooks, as we do not have a choice. I am making an exception in this case, in the event there might be directors/instructors reading these reviews. Do yourself and your students a huge favor and skip this book.

This book was prepared well and each chapter transitioned well to the next chapter. The sample citations given were confusing, unless you understood the materials well enough to distinguish the different format of citations. Other than that, it was a good book.
